III CHESTNUT FORUM IN RIÓS
Last Friday took place the first day of the III Foro da Castaña, organized by the Diputación de Ourense and Inorde, in Riós. And from Grupo Cuevas we could not be happier with the exchange of ideas, experiences, learning and synergies proposed for the sector.
The main topics discussed at the Forum were the new measures for the Galician chestnut, the global situation of chestnut trees, the future in the rural sector and the project for the recovery of abandoned farms. From Cuevas y Cía, Rocío Cid, manager of the company, had the opportunity to explain the commercial needs that we find in each campaign and the importance of adapting to the demands of the current market. For Rocío, “our chestnut is essential for key products such as marron glacé or the Cuevas Chef product line”, so it is very important to work hand in hand with producers to ensure a high quality product that meets international expectations.
Another aspect highlighted by Rocío in her speech was “the need to recover the space that chestnuts used to have in the diets of families and restaurants. The new generations are not used to having this product in their menus, that is why we are currently working with hotel and catering schools so that they get to know this food that is so much our own”.
